No Credit Check Business Funding: Legit Options, Cost and Scams

posted on November 6, 2026

You can’t get an SBA 7(a) loan with no credit check. SBA 7(a) loans require that you be creditworthy and able to repay, and lenders analyze credit history, so an offer that promises no credit review is not an SBA 7(a) loan. SBA says microloan intermediary lenders make all credit decisions and set all terms for microloans, so ask the lender. 504 loans are made through Certified Development Companies, and SBA lists ability to repay as a general eligibility standard. The FTC has banned several funding companies from the industry in cases it brought over deceptive marketing, including Seek Capital (final order October 1, 2025). This guide covers each option, the rates and terms each one lists, and what to check before you sign.

Can you get a business loan with no credit check?

Not through SBA 7(a). The SBA’s 7(a) loan page lists “Be creditworthy and demonstrate a reasonable ability to repay the loan” among the 7(a) requirements. It also requires that a business “Not be able to obtain the desired credit on reasonable terms from non-federal, non-state, and non-local government sources.” An SBA procedural notice on lender credit analysis, published February 20, 2026 and effective March 1, 2026, requires 7(a) Small loan lenders to analyze the applicant’s credit history. A lender may use a scoring model only if it “does not rely solely on consumer credit scores.”

Can you get a business loan without any money down?

SBA does not lend to you directly. The SBA’s 7(a) page says you apply through a local lender and “will always work directly with your lender and not with SBA.” The SBA’s 7(a) page does not show down-payment or collateral requirements, so ask your lender before you apply. The Federal Reserve’s 2026 Report on Employer Firms, based on the 2025 Small Business Credit Survey, found that of firms with debt, 59% used a personal guarantee to secure it and 51% used business assets. The Fed’s survey report is the source for those figures.

Key finding

The Federal Reserve’s 2026 Report on Employer Firms, based on the 2025 Small Business Credit Survey, found that of firms with debt, 59% used a personal guarantee to secure it and 51% used business assets.

What is the monthly payment on a $50,000 business loan?

The payment depends on the rate and term in your lender’s offer, and the SBA says repayment terms vary by amount, planned use and lender requirements. For 7(a) term loans, the SBA says most are repaid with monthly payments of principal and interest from the business’s cash flow. Payments stay the same on fixed-rate loans. On variable-rate loans, the lender may require a different payment when the rate changes.

If the $50,000 loan is an SBA microloan, the SBA’s microloan page lists a maximum repayment term of seven years and interest rates that “Generally, between 8%-13%” as of October 28, 2026. Ask any lender for the monthly payment and total repayment in writing before you commit.

What are the pros and cons of SBA loans?

As of October 28, 2026, the SBA’s program pages list these terms:

Program Maximum amount What the SBA says it is for Rate or term the SBA lists
7(a) loan $5 million Working capital, equipment, real estate, refinancing, changes of ownership Working capital pilot caps: base rate plus 6.5% for $50,000 or less, plus 6.0% for $50,001–$250,000, plus 4.5% for $250,001–$350,000, plus 3.0% for $350,001 and greater; maximum term 60 months
504 loan The SBA’s 504 page lists both $5 million and $5.5 million as the maximum; confirm the current limit with a CDC or SBA. Long-term, fixed-rate financing for major fixed assets Long-term and fixed rate
Microloan Up to $50,000 (average about $13,000) Working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, machinery, equipment Generally 8%–13%; maximum term seven years

Pros: SBA 7(a) payments are fixed on fixed-rate loans. SBA’s network of Resource Partners is available to help small businesses, and District Offices offer in-person, online or telephone help.

Cons: You must meet the creditworthiness and “reasonable terms” tests above. You apply through a lender, and the application documents vary by loan size and the lender’s process. Microloan proceeds cannot be used to pay existing debts or buy real estate.

What are the current interest rates for business loans?

There is no single rate for every business loan. The most recent published figures point the same way. On October 28, 2026, the Federal Open Market Committee voted to keep the federal funds target range at 3-3/4 to 4 percent, as stated in the Federal Reserve’s October 28, 2026 statement. The Fed’s H.15 daily release lists prime, which it describes as “one of several base rates used by banks to price short-term business loans.” Check the H.15 release for today’s prime figure.

For a normal rate, the SBA’s microloan range of generally 8%–13% is the closest published benchmark. It is the SBA’s stated range for microloans, not a rate for every small business loan.

Which business loan is cheapest, has the lowest rate, or is easiest to get approved for?

No single loan wins on all three. The Fed’s 2026 Report on Employer Firms, from the 2025 survey, gives you the clearest comparison by lender type. The survey report lists these figures:

Lender type Measure Figure
Small banks Applicants fully approved 57%
Small banks Borrowers whose costs were higher than expected 37%
Large banks Borrowers whose costs were higher than expected 32%
Online lenders Borrowers whose costs were higher than expected 60%
Online lenders Borrowers whose costs were lower than expected 4%

Across all applicants, 42% received the full amount they sought, 36% received some or most, and 22% received none. The survey says the most common challenges at online lenders were high interest rates and unfavorable repayment terms. The survey is a nationwide convenience sample, not a random sample, and the report says results should be read with that in mind. Compare the total dollars in each offer, not the approval promise.

Which type of business loan is best?

The right type depends on what the money is for. The SBA lists 7(a) loans for working capital, equipment, real estate and refinancing, 504 loans for major fixed assets, and microloans for amounts up to $50,000. For more on how short-term credit lines compare, read working capital loans vs lines of credit.

Good to know

The SBA lists 7(a) loans for working capital, equipment, real estate and refinancing, 504 loans for major fixed assets, and microloans for amounts up to $50,000.

Can a startup with no revenue get a business loan?

SBA’s 7(a), 504 and microloan eligibility lists each require that the business be “an operating business” and “operate for profit.” The 7(a) working capital pilot asks for at least one year of operating history. The microloan program says it helps small businesses start up and expand. Ask each lender whether a business with no revenue counts as operating under its program before you apply.

Are bad credit and instant approval business loans real?

Whether any instant-approval offer is legitimate depends on its terms, and the FTC case below shows why approval promises call for caution. In a November 2025 FTC press release, the agency said Seek Capital and its CEO advertised that they had “special relationships” with lenders and would charge no upfront fees. The FTC said the company charged clients thousands of dollars to open credit cards, often without the promised 0% interest, and charged heavy fees when customers tried to cancel. A federal court found misrepresentations, and the FTC order permanently bans Seek Capital and its founder from offering business financing. Read the FTC press release. For more on guarantee claims, see guaranteed approval loans.

What is a merchant cash advance, and is it a loan?

The FTC describes merchant cash advances this way: “Generally speaking, merchant cash advance companies provide funds to businesses in exchange for a percentage of the businesses’ revenue. Typically, a merchant cash advance company will make daily withdrawals from the business’s bank account until the obligation has been met.” The FTC’s January 2022 release is the source for that description.

Texas House Bill 700, as engrossed in May 2025, describes these products as “structured as ‘sales-based financing’ and are currently not disclosed as loans.” That is the bill sponsor’s statement of intent, as reported in the Texas Senate Research Center’s bill analysis. The same analysis says the bill would require providers to disclose all costs and payment frequency for funding under $1 million.

Why it matters

The same analysis says the bill would require providers to disclose all costs and payment frequency for funding under $1 million.

The New York Attorney General sued Yellowstone Capital, alleging it provided “loans rather than MCAs” at rates above state law. Under the settlement described on the New York AG’s Yellowstone page, Yellowstone’s merchant debts of $534 million were canceled. That settlement applies only to Yellowstone MCAs. For alternatives, see merchant cash advance alternatives.

Is there free business funding with no credit check?

SBA does not provide grants for starting and expanding a business. SBA grants go to nonprofits, Resource Partners and educational organizations for counseling and training. Research and development grants run through SBIR and STTR programs, and STEP grants go to state and territory governments to help small businesses export. The SBA grants page lists these programs as of October 28, 2026.

SBA only communicates from email addresses ending in @sba.gov. If someone claiming to be from SBA writes from another address, the SBA says to suspect and report fraud.

What are your rights when you borrow for a business?

The CFPB’s small business lending rule under section 1071 of the Dodd-Frank Act requires lenders to collect and report data on small business credit applications. The CFPB issued a final rule on May 1, 2026, and extended the compliance date to January 1, 2028, as published in the Federal Register. That rule governs lender reporting, not which loans you qualify for.

The FTC has used the FTC Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Telemarketing Sales Rule against funding companies, according to its press releases. The New York Attorney General’s page directs MCA problems to a complaint form on its website; check your own state regulator’s site. The same page says the AG cannot provide legal advice, so contact your own lawyer about your legal rights.

What to check before you sign

  • Get the total repayment in dollars and the payment schedule in writing, whether it is monthly or daily.
  • Compare the company name in the contract with the name on the offer. The New York AG says the name at the top of a contract can be a doing-business-as name.
  • Ask whether any fee is due before funding. The FTC alleged that RAM Capital Funding required upfront fees after saying it would not; the defendants settled.
  • Ask whether the contract includes a personal guarantee or a confession of judgment. The FTC alleged that defendants in its MCA cases used confessions of judgment to seize assets.
  • Check your own credit reports before you apply, using free credit reports.
  • To find a participating SBA lender, use SBA’s Lender Match tool on the SBA 7(a) page.

Disclosure: This page is general information for business owners. It is not personal financial, tax or legal advice, and it does not promise approval, a rate, an amount or a funding date. Rates are shown as of the dates given in the text.
