Whether Rapid Finance is legit is something you check yourself, before you sign anything. Ask for the company’s legal name, any state lending license it holds, and a written loan offer that shows the total cost in dollars. This page gives you those checks, plus current federal rate figures and SBA eligibility rules so you can compare any offer you receive. It does not rank lenders or confirm the license of any one company.
Is Rapid Finance legit?
Start with the company’s own website and paperwork. Check these four things:
- The legal name on the loan offer matches the name on the company’s website.
- Any state license number the company gives you can be looked up with your state’s financial regulator.
- The offer states the interest rate, APR, fees, term and payment schedule in writing before you sign.
- No one asks for upfront fees before funding. The FTC’s January 2022 release on merchant cash advance providers describes companies that required personal guarantees and upfront fees after saying they would not.
Ads that promise cash with no interest, or approval for everyone, deserve a close look. In November 2025 the FTC settled with Seek Capital, a firm that advertised access to cash with no interest due for extended periods. The company and its CEO were permanently banned from providing business financing.
What does a $10,000 business loan cost?
There is no single APR for a $10,000 loan, because each lender sets its own terms. The figures below are federal ceilings and ranges, not quotes. Use them to judge whether an offer is in the normal zone.
| Figure | What it means for you | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Bank prime rate: 7.00% | A base rate banks use for short-term business loans | Federal Reserve H.15, as of October 27, 2026 |
| 7(a) rate ceiling for loans of $50,000 or less: base rate plus 6.5% | With prime at 7.00%, the ceiling is 13.50% | SBA 7(a) loans page, as of October 28, 2026 |
| Microloan rates generally 8% to 13% | Set by the nonprofit intermediary lender; loans go up to $50,000 | SBA microloans page, as of October 28, 2026 |
| Average microloan about $13,000 | A typical size for a loan in this range | SBA microloans page, as of October 28, 2026 |
Ask any lender for the APR and the total repayment in dollars, and compare those figures instead of the rate alone. Small business borrowers were already feeling this cost: the NFIB’s September 2026 survey reports that they reported higher rates on their recently received loans.
Where can I borrow money instantly?
No one can promise you instant business money, and any site that does should be asked for its funding date in writing. The SBA 7(a) loans page does not show a funding timeline. It says SBA does not provide 7(a) loans directly, so you work with a lender. SBA’s Lender Match tool matches you with a participating SBA lender, and SBA district offices offer help in person, online or by phone.
Who qualifies for a business loan?
Eligibility depends on the SBA program. These are the three main SBA loan programs:
| Program | Size | Key rules |
|---|---|---|
| SBA 7(a) loans | Up to $5 million | Can fund working capital, equipment, and refinancing of business debt. Key factors are what the business does to receive its income, its credit history, and where it operates. |
| SBA microloans | Up to $50,000 | The business must be an operating, for-profit business located in the U.S. and small under SBA size requirements. Proceeds cannot pay existing debts or buy real estate. |
| SBA 504 loans | Up to $5.5 million | For major fixed assets, not working capital or inventory. Available only through Certified Development Companies. |
SBA financing also depends on ownership. An SBA procedural notice effective March 1, 2026 limits SBA financing to applicants whose 100% direct and indirect owners and required guarantors are U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals with a principal residence in the United States. The SBA says your lender will help you work out which documents you need.
Who will lend if no one else will?
Business owners who are turned down often face higher costs or harder terms. The Federal Reserve’s 2026 Report on Employer Firms, from its Small Business Credit Survey and covering 2025, found that 42% of applicants received the full amount they sought, 36% received some or most, and 22% received none. Among firms that borrowed from online lenders, 60% said actual borrowing costs were higher than expected, while 4% said lower. High interest rates and unfavorable repayment terms were the most common challenges at online lenders. Applicants at small banks were more likely to be fully approved, at 57%, than applicants at other lenders.
Is a merchant cash advance a loan?
Merchant cash advances are commonly structured as sales-based financing. The Texas Senate Research Center’s bill analysis for H.B. 700, engrossed May 22, 2025, says these deals “provide an upfront cash payment in exchange for a percentage of future sales revenue” and are “currently not disclosed as loans.” The same analysis describes a bill that would make confession-of-judgment clauses in these contracts void and unenforceable. Check the Texas Legislature’s bill tracker to see whether it became law.
How a particular contract is classified under a particular law is a legal question. The FTC’s 2022 release says merchant cash advance companies typically daily withdrawals from the business’s bank account until the obligation has been met. New York’s attorney general settled a case against Yellowstone Capital, and the settlement page, last updated April 16, 2026, says the lawsuit alleged Yellowstone was providing loans rather than merchant cash advances. The settlement canceled $534 million in merchant debts. For any merchant cash advance offer, get the factor rate and total payback in dollars in writing, and compare that total with the cash you would receive. This is general information, not legal advice.
Rapid Finance reviews and complaints
Read reviews on several sites and look at the dates, not just the star rating. Watch for complaints about fees added after the offer, daily or weekly debits, renewal terms, and collection calls. These match the problems the Fed survey and the FTC describe. The survey found that 59% of firms with debt used a personal guarantee to secure it. If you have a complaint, file it with your state attorney general, which takes complaints on lending practices.
If you compare named online lenders, the OnDeck Business Loans review covers credit score, cost and legit questions. For more on business funding markets, see Business Finance and Industry Markets.
Rapid Finance login and phone number
Get the login page and phone number from the company’s own website, and type the address in yourself. Do not use a number or link from a text, email or ad. Do not send bank login details to anyone who contacted you first. Check that the number on the website matches the number on your loan paperwork.
Rapid Finance loan requirements
Requirements vary by lender and program. Expect these questions:
- Financial statements. For SBA’s 7(a) Working Capital Pilot, the SBA lists timely and accurate financial statements, accounts receivable and payable agings, and inventory reports, plus at least one year of operating history.
- A personal guarantee. The Fed survey found 59% of firms with debt used one.
- Business assets as security. The same survey found 51% of firms with debt used business assets.
- Owner eligibility, as covered above for SBA loans.
Rapid Finance personal loans and online lending
This page covers business funding and does not cover personal loan terms. Check any personal loan offer with the same questions below. Online lending has grown: the Small Business Credit Survey found 29% of applicants sought financing from online fintech lenders in 2025, up from 17% in 2020.
