Lendio Review: Requirements, Loan Costs and Questions to Ask

posted on October 29, 2026

If you are weighing Lendio for business money, the answer depends on the loan you need, how your business is set up, and the terms the lender puts in writing. Lendio’s own website describes its process, so read that first. This page gives you the SBA loan limits, the checks lenders run, and the warning signs that apply to any business loan you consider.

How does Lendio work?

Lendio’s website is the place to read its steps, fees and current terms. Before you submit anything, ask Lendio these questions in writing:

  • Which lenders receive my application, and does any fee come from me or from the lender?
  • What is the rate, the term and the total repayment on each offer?
  • Is the rate fixed or variable, and when can it change?

Ask the same questions of every lender you compare, including banks and SBA lenders.

What do I need to get a $500,000 business loan?

Lendio’s own requirements for a $500,000 loan are on its website. The SBA sets the limits and rules for its loan programs, and those rules apply to any SBA-backed loan you are offered.

SBA program Maximum amount What it can be used for
7(a) loan $5 million Working capital, real estate, machinery and equipment, refinancing business debt, change of ownership
504 loan Up to $5 million on the page headline; $5.5 million in the page text Long-term fixed assets such as buildings and equipment with a useful life of at least 10 years
Microloan Up to $50,000 Working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, machinery, equipment

The SBA 7(a) loan page says key eligibility depends on what the business does to earn its income, its credit history, and where it operates. The SBA 504 loan page lists these basics: an operating business, operating for profit, located in the U.S., small under SBA size requirements, and not an ineligible type of business. It also names qualified management, a feasible business plan, good character and the ability to repay. A 504 loan cannot be used for working capital or inventory.

Lenders also look at your numbers. An SBA procedural notice on SOP 50 10 8 sets underwriting steps for 7(a) Small loans (up to $350,000): lenders analyze debt service coverage and the two most recent months of bank activity for the primary operating account. Other loan types and lenders may use different requirements. The notice is posted at this SBA procedural notice on lender credit analysis.

Ownership rules are strict. SBA financing is limited to businesses with 100% direct and indirect owners and guarantors who are U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals with a principal residence in the United States. Entity owners must be created, organized or incorporated in the United States. The SBA procedural notice on business ownership sets out these rules.

An SBA information notice says SOP 50 10 8.1 becomes effective October 1, 2026, and applies to applications that receive an SBA loan number on or after that date. As of October 28, 2026, that is the version lenders follow for new applications, according to the SBA information notice on SOP 50 10 8.1.

Is Lendistry an SBA lender?

Check this yourself in two minutes. The SBA 504 loan page says 504 loans are available only through Certified Development Companies, and it tells you to contact your local SBA office to make sure you are dealing with a qualified lender. For microloans, the SBA microloan page says to work with an SBA-approved intermediary, and it links to a list of authorized microlenders.

Can a new LLC get a loan?

The SBA microloan page says the program helps small businesses to start up and expand. Its eligibility list also requires that a business be an operating business. Ask any lender how it treats a company that has not started operating yet.

In its underwriting section for 7(a) Small loans only, the SBA procedural notice says that when a lender underwrites an applicant that is not currently in operation and has no commercial debts or obligations, the lender does not have to get two months of bank statements. This is not a statement that a business that has not started operating is eligible, since SBA eligibility requires an operating business. Owner rules still apply to your LLC. Every direct and indirect owner must meet the citizenship and residence rules described above.

How do I borrow money against my LLC?

An LLC that borrows is the borrower on the loan. The SBA 7(a) page lists working capital and refinancing business debt as uses. Compare the structures in working capital loans vs lines of credit before you choose one. SBA lenders must enter all direct and indirect owners and any SBA-required guarantors into the SBA’s E-Tran system. Ask each lender what collateral and personal guarantee it requires before you apply.

Is there free money to start a business, and will the government pay me to start one?

The SBA grants page lists funding opportunities for organizations. Examples include a Veterans Business Outreach Centers cooperative agreement for counseling and training events, and a SCORE award that the page says is not open to for-profit businesses. The evidence does not show grants open to individual startup owners.

The SBA loan programs above are the SBA funding options this page covers, and each one is a loan you repay. Compare their terms before you apply, and ask any lender for the total repayment in writing.

What is the payment on a $1,000,000 business loan?

Your payment depends on three things: the rate, the term, and whether the rate can change. A $1,000,000 loan fits within the 7(a) and 504 limits, but a 504 loan cannot be used for working capital, so the use of the money decides which program applies.

Rate reference Figure Date
NFIB average rate paid on short-maturity loans 8.2% September 2026
SBA microloan interest rates, per the SBA microloan page Generally 8% to 13% As of October 28, 2026
Federal Reserve target range for the federal funds rate 3-3/4 to 4 percent October 28, 2026

The SBA 504 loan page says 504 rates are pegged to an increment above the 10-year U.S. Treasury rate, with 10-, 20- and 25-year terms. The SBA microloan maximum term is seven years. The SBA procedural notice on 7(a) alternative base rates says those rates took effect March 1, 2026 and are permanent additions to the program. For variable-rate loans, the note must state the base rate, the publication where it appears, the spread, the first rate, the first adjustment date and how often it adjusts.

Ask the lender for a written payment schedule that shows the rate, term, fees and total repayment. Then compare it with the schedule from every other lender.

What do borrowers from online lenders report about costs?

The Federal Reserve Banks’ 2026 Report on Employer Firms, based on the 2025 Small Business Credit Survey, says 60% of firms that borrowed from online lenders reported higher-than-expected borrowing costs. That is a greater share than firms that borrowed from other types of lenders. Among all applicants, 42% received the full amount they sought, 36% received some or most, and 22% received none. The report says credit union and bank applicants were more satisfied than online lender and finance company applicants. The survey is a convenience sample, not a random one, and the report says results should be read with that in mind.

What are the warning signs in business funding?

Read the contract type first. A Texas Senate Research Center analysis of HB 700, engrossed May 22, 2025, describes merchant cash advances as upfront cash in exchange for a percentage of future sales revenue, structured as sales-based financing. This is a bill analysis, not a final law. Check whether you are signing a loan or a sales-based financing agreement.

Look at the company’s legal name on the contract. The New York Attorney General’s Yellowstone settlement page, updated April 16, 2026, says the name at the top of a contract can be a doing-business-as name rather than the legal name.

Watch for confessions of judgment. The FTC’s February 2024 press release on the Braun judgment describes the complaint that these clauses let a lender obtain an uncontested court judgment in cases not expected by the borrower. The FTC’s November 2025 press release on Seek Capital reports a settlement in which the company and its CEO were permanently banned from providing business financing, debt relief and credit repair services.

Are Lendio reviews and login pages trustworthy?

Read reviews for patterns, such as repeated complaints about fees, slow funding or hard-to-reach support. Find login and phone details on Lendio’s official website. Do not call numbers from ads or unsolicited messages. Apply the same caution to offers in other areas, such as student loan scams.

Before you apply

  • Get the total repayment, rate type, term and every fee from Lendio in writing.
  • Ask which lenders will see your application.
  • Confirm SBA lender status with the 504 or microlender list before you rely on it.
  • Ask how a new LLC is treated under the operating-business and bank-statement rules.
  • Check the legal company name on any contract.

This is information, not legal advice. The figures above are as of the dates shown; check current rates, limits and terms with the lender and the SBA before you commit. USPatriotNews.com carries affiliate offers on some of its pages. This page contains no offer or purchase links.
