AMERICA FIRST BUDGET ADVANCES: Trump Calls on Senate to Act Before August Recess

posted on July 26, 2026

While the Democrats continue to play games with America’s future, President Donald J. Trump and House Republicans just took a massive step forward — advancing a budget resolution that could become one of the most consequential pieces of legislation in modern American history. And if the Senate does its job before the August recess, the American people are about to win big.

On Thursday, President Trump took to Truth Social to celebrate the House’s progress and issue a clear, direct challenge to the Senate: get it done. No excuses. No delays. The American people are watching — and they are ready to be impressed.

House Republicans Deliver a Major Victory

Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republicans deserve enormous credit for shepherding this budget resolution through what is never an easy process. Passing any major fiscal legislation through a closely divided House requires discipline, leadership, and a unified commitment to the America First agenda — and that’s exactly what the Republican caucus demonstrated.

President Trump specifically called out the lawmakers who helped make this happen, including Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington, Chip Roy, Michelle Fischbach, Virginia Foxx, Jason Smith, Mike Rogers, GT Thompson, and Bryan Steil, along with House Whip Tom Emmer and Majority Leader Steve Scalise. These are the names of Republicans who showed up when it mattered. Remember them.

This budget blueprint is built on three pillars that every patriotic American should be able to get behind:

  • Strengthening our military — because a strong America is a safe America, and after years of woke Pentagon priorities under the Biden administration, our armed forces need serious investment and serious leadership.
  • Supporting American farmers — the backbone of this nation who feed our families, fuel our rural communities, and deserve a government that actually fights for them instead of strangling them with red tape.
  • The SAVE America Act — Trump’s sweeping domestic policy agenda that puts American citizens, American workers, and American values first.

This isn’t just a budget. This is a statement of national priorities. And for the first time in years, those priorities look like they were written by people who actually love this country.

Democrats Exposed — Again

As House Republicans were busy governing, Senate Democrats were busy doing what they do best: obstructing. President Trump rightly thanked the senators who stood firm and defeated yet another Democratic attempt to undermine national security. The legacy media won’t frame it that way, of course — they never do. But the pattern is impossible to ignore.

Every time Republicans try to secure the border, fund the military, or cut wasteful spending, Democrats manufacture a crisis, call it an emergency, and try to ram through their own agenda under the cover of that chaos. This time, it didn’t work. The senators who held the line deserve recognition, and the American people deserve to know that there are still fighters in Washington willing to stand up to the radical left’s endless attempts to weaken this nation from within.

The contrast could not be clearer: one party is working to strengthen America’s defenses, support its workers, and restore fiscal sanity. The other is playing procedural games and hoping the media covers for them. Fortunately, fewer and fewer Americans are falling for it.

The Senate Must Act — Before August

With the House having taken this critical first step, the ball is now squarely in the Senate’s court. President Trump was direct in his Truth Social post: he wants the Senate to adopt a budget resolution — which can pass with a simple majority, meaning Democrats cannot filibuster it into oblivion — before lawmakers leave for their August recess.

That’s a tight timeline, but it’s an achievable one if Senate Republicans show the same unity and resolve their House counterparts just demonstrated. The American people didn’t send Republicans to Washington to take long vacations. They sent them to Washington to get things done.

Trump made clear that his administration is ready to work side-by-side with the Senate to push this over the finish line. That’s leadership. That’s the kind of hands-on, results-driven approach that has defined the Trump presidency from day one — a sharp contrast to the passive, finger-pointing style that Americans endured for four years under Joe Biden.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune and his caucus now face a defining moment. The House has done its part. The President has laid out the path forward. The only question is whether the Senate will rise to meet the moment or let the momentum stall while Washington elites enjoy their summer breaks.

Bottom Line

This budget resolution is exactly what America needs right now: a bold, unapologetic commitment to a stronger military, a thriving agricultural sector, and a domestic agenda that puts everyday Americans first. House Republicans delivered. The Senate needs to follow suit — and fast.

President Trump has made his expectations crystal clear. The American people have made their expectations clear at the ballot box. Now it’s time for the United States Senate to do its job.

Don’t let Washington’s culture of delay and dysfunction win. The most consequential bill in a generation is within reach — and the American people are ready to see it happen.
